The eighth edition of the Papaya Young Directors competition for emerging filmmakers is launching on February 15, 2021. The theme for this year’s edition is It’s All About Talents! Check out what we’ve got in store for this year’s participants!
It’s All About Talents
The contest’s eight edition will focus not only on unconventional ideas but also on filmmakers and creatives with talents extending beyond just film directing. We’re looking for DPs, editors, set designers, costume designers, video content creators, as well as artists interested in expressing themselves through film. We’re looking for talents capable of taking the advertising and film industries to new levels.
Categories
Like last year, the competition will be split into three categories: Branded Stories (commercials), Music Stories (music videos), and Vertical Stories by Facebook (featuring film shot in vertical format). The 2021 edition of the contest will also feature an entirely new subcategory: Women’s Stories/Vertical Stories by Facebook. See here for more info on the eight edition’s categories.
Women’s Stories
The Women’s Stories subcategory was envisioned as a part of the Vertical Stories by Facebook category. In this section, contestants will have the opportunity to produce vertically shot content inspired by briefs drawn up by women’s rights organizations. Contestants will be producing films in vertical format for three foundations: Camera Femina, Cosmos for Girls, and Kuchinate.
