"Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back", "Maps to the Stars", "Cosmopolis", "The Man in the Iron Mask" – those and many more were shot by Peter Suschitzky. He is responsible for cinematography in most of David Cronenberg's movies. He has also collaborated with directors such as John Boorman, Ken Russell, Bernard Rose, and Tim Burton.
Suschitzky claims that it is important to do everything that comes, when you're at the beginning of your career, although it is essential to create personal style eventually. And to do so he advises to get interested in art, photography and literature – "and if possible do some of that yourself".
He used to joke, that it is extremely important to develop passions outside filmmaking, as it's most likely there will be long periods, when you'll be in between project, with not much work.
